PVB laminated glass is a type of safety glass composed of two or more glass panes (usually float glass or tempered glass) bonded together with polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film as the middle adhesive layer. Its characteristics focus on "basic safety protection" and "adaptation to conventional scenarios". It is widely used in building doors and windows, curtain walls, ceilings, elevated floors, furniture, shop windows, counters, aquariums, etc.
Main Performances:
1. Impact Resistance: It is superior to single glass pane. Its resistance to smashing and penetration can be improved by thickening the PVB film or increasing the number of glass layers. It can even absorb and withstand the impact energy generated by bullets or even bomb explosions, preventing bullets or shrapnel from penetrating.
2. Debris Control: After breaking, the PVB film bonds the debris to prevent splashing and falling, maintaining an overall "spider web-like" structure. This is the core advantage of basic safety glass in the construction and transportation fields.
3. Sound Insulation and Energy Saving: The film's damping effect reduces medium and high-frequency noise, improving sound insulation by 3-5 dB compared with single glass pane. When matched with Low-E glass, it can reduce heat transfer and achieve basic energy-saving effects.
4. Ultraviolet (UV) Control: PVB film has the function of filtering UV rays. The PVB interlayer can absorb at least 99.5% of UV rays. Specially made PVB film can also enable the laminated glass to control sunlight transmission and prevent glare. This protects indoor furniture, plastic products, textiles, carpets, artworks and collectibles from fading and aging caused by UV radiation.
2. Decorative Effect: Yunlong paper or PET film with various printed patterns can be placed in the interlayer, creating an elegant decorative effect.
