Learn More About Low-E Insulated Glass

Date:2025-10-20

The core advantages of Low-E insulated glass stem from its precision material composition, with two key components forming an "insulation barrier":

The Low-E coating. It is a nano-scale metal compound film created through magnetron sputtering technology. It features both "selective light transmission" (with a visible light transmittance of over 70%) and strong far-infrared reflection capabilities. It blocks heat in summer and retains heat in winter. Its far-infrared reflectance is 60%-80% higher than that of ordinary glass, significantly reducing heat transfer.

The insulating glass unit (IGU) structure. A 6-12mm sealed air gap is left between the glass panes. It is filled with dry air (to prevent fogging) or inert gas (such as argon, whose thermal conductivity is only 67% that of air, enhancing heat insulation). Moreover, a dual-seal system—with butyl rubber ensuring airtightness and polysulfide rubber/silicone rubber stabilizing the structure—guarantees long-term performance.

In practical applications, its energy-saving effect is remarkable:

In summer, the indoor temperature is 3-5℃ lower, and air conditioning energy consumption is reduced by 25%-30%.

In winter, heat loss is decreased by 30%-40%, and heating energy consumption is cut by 20%. A 100㎡ residence can save 1,500-2,000 yuan in annual energy costs.

Additionally, it offers added values:

The insulating air gap can improve sound insulation by 8-12 decibels, blocking external noise.

The coating blocks over 90% of ultraviolet rays, protecting furniture from fading.
